Paper | Board | Tissue – Quality Control System

Paper Thickness Gauge BTG 3000PP

The BTG 3000PP is an online gauging and quality control system designed for paper, board and tissue production. It continuously measures important production parameters such as basis weight, moisture, ash and caliper, helping operators maintain consistent quality and reduce material waste.

JASCH has more than 28 years of experience in measurement, process control and automation for the paper, board and tissue industry.

The BTG 3000PP provides continuous online measurement of key paper quality parameters and helps operators identify deviations from target values during production. The system can also be integrated with process controls to make corrections and improve machine performance.

It is designed to provide a practical and cost-effective solution for paper machines where reliable measurement and control are required.

JASCH systems are built for long-term operation, with upgrade options available to bring newer EnvisionUltra and sensor technologies to existing installations.

Basis Weight Sensor — Beta

The Beta transmission sensor measures the basis weight of paper and
board. The measurement is based on the attenuation of Beta radiation as
it passes through the material.

Specification Details
Radioisotope Kr-85, 200 mCi / Sr-90, 50 mCi
Measurement Range 10–1000 g/m² / 30–5000 g/m²
Accuracy & Repeatability ±0.15% or 0.15 GSM, whichever is greater
Sampling Time 10 ms
Air Gap 10 mm – 30 mm
Operating Temperature 0–70°C
Detector Ionization chamber
Measuring Spot Size 12 mm
Special Feature Insensitive to paper formation

Moisture Sensor — NIR / Microwave

Moisture measurement helps operators maintain the required water content
in the paper and can also support production optimization.

Two sensor options are available depending on the application and GSM
range.

Near Infrared Sensor

Suitable mainly for fine paper and lighter paper grades.

Specification Details
Measurement Range 0–15%
Accuracy & Repeatability ±0.1%
Spot Size 20 mm circular
Operating Temperature 0–70°C
Sampling Time 10 ms
Special Features Scattering compensation, carbon black compensation

Microwave Sensor

Suitable for higher GSM applications and board products.

Specification Details
Measurement Range Up to 100 GSM water
Sampling Frequency 100 samples/second
Measuring Gap 10 mm
Measuring Area 50 × 50 mm
Operating Temperature 0–70°C
Special Features Insensitive to ink, surface structure and common fillers

Ash Sensor — X-Ray

The X-ray sensor measures ash content by detecting the absorption of
X-ray radiation by inorganic materials such as clay, calcium carbonate
and titanium dioxide.

Specification Details
X-Ray Source 2 W, 10 kV max
Measurement Range 10–500 GSM
Accuracy & Repeatability ±0.4%
