Jasch has been working in the plastics measurement industry for more than 28 years. The gauge sensor uses a large-volume pressurized ionization chamber combined with a stable electrometer amplifier. This design provides reliable and consistent measurement during production.

The scanner is built on a rugged steel structure designed to keep the sensor accurately positioned. Its linear motion components are CNC machined for precise alignment and long service life.

The frame uses an enclosed construction to help protect mechanical and electronic components from dust and corrosion.

The scanner connects to the operator station through a high-speed LAN communication. The operator station uses standard PC hardware and software, which makes future upgrades and local support easier.

The touch-screen interface gives operators access to important production information such as:

The system can be integrated with process control systems to help
maintain consistent production.

Machine Direction Control

Machine direction control can be achieved through:

  • Line speed control
  • Extruder screw speed control

Cross Direction Control

Cross direction control options include:

  • Die bolt heating control
  • Roll bending control
  • Cross-axis control
  • Roll gap control
  • Coating knife or blade control

These options allow the gauging system to work together with the production
line and help operators respond to measurement changes during manufacturing.

The measuring principle is based on the attenuation of Beta or X-ray radiation as it passes through the material.

A radiation source produces energy with a known intensity. As the radiation passes through the material, part of the energy is absorbed. The system detects this change and uses it to determine the material thickness or basis weight.

Because the measurement is continuous and takes place directly on the production line, the collected data can also be used for automatic process control.

This gives manufacturers better visibility of the process and helps maintain consistent product quality.
